Shabu hidden in shoes intercepted at Camp Bagong Diwa jail

A man was arrested after he tried to bring suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) hidden in a pair of shoes into the Metro Manila District Jail (MMDJ) Annex 2 in Taguig.

According to the Taguig police, suspect Jeremiah Neil Buenaventura, 24, a visitor of a person deprived of liberty (PDL), brought the shoes, a “paabot item,” to the jail inside Camp Bagong Diwa on Nov. 3.

However, JO1 Patrick Pacienca, who was conducting a mandatory search, inspected the shoes brought by Buenaventura and found a freshly glued cut on the sole of each shoe.

When he ripped the soles, he found four plastic sachets hidden containing suspected shabu weighing 23.94 grams with a value of P162,792 that led to Buenaventura’s immediate arrest. The rubber shoes were confiscated as additional evidence.

The arresting officer immediately requested assistance from the Taguig police’s Substation 10 in Bagumbayan and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU).

A case for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed by the police against Buenaventura.
