OVP continues relief ops in Paeng-hit areas

The Office of the Vice President’s Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC) continued to mobilize relief efforts for families affected by Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng”.

According to Vice President Sara Duterte’s office, it launched simultaneously relief operations in different affected areas throughout the country on Friday, Nov. 4.

The OVP partnered with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the local government units, for the distribution of rice, relief goods, bottled water and clothings to Paeng-hit areas of Cavite, Maguindanao, Antique, Leyte, Zamboanga City, and Cotabato City.

Volunteers from the Inday Sara Duterte Ako (ISDA) movement also joined the relief operations.

“Nagtungo ang ating OVP-DOC sa mga bayan ng (Our OVP-DOC went to the municipalities of) Bacoor, Cavite; Hilongos, Leyte; Bato, Leyte; Zamboanga, Cotabato, at sa mga probinsya ng (and in the provinces of) Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur at (and) Antique,” Duterte said in a Facebook post.

Last Nov. 1, the OVP-DOC turned over 100 sacks of rice for the typhoon victims of San Pedro, Laguna which was received by Mayor Art Joseph Francis Mercado.

Bacoor City also received relief aid from Duterte’s office.

The Bacoor City Social Welfare and Development Office reported that 69 out of its 73 barangays, with 99,157 families, were heavily affected by the severe storm.

Affected residents of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Cotabato City received 200 sacks of rice, clothings and bottled water.

Fifty sacks of rice were also turned over to members of the Indigenous People of Bato, Southern Leyte.
