CEBU CITY -- The Cebu Port Authority (CPA) on Saturday, Nov. 5, reported that more than 230,000 passengers were recorded in various seaports of Cebu from Oct. 28-Nov. 4.
The influx of passengers was expected because of the observance of ‘Undas,’ which was described by CPA as generally peaceful.
The CPA said Oplan Byaheng Ayos: Undas 2022 was mounted to ensure a peaceful observance of the All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and All Saints’ Day on Nov. 2.
The implementation of Oplan Byaheng Ayos: Undas 2022 was in close coordination with Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), partner local government units and partner cargo handling service providers, the CPA said.
The CPA recorded a total of 237,817 passengers in Cebu seaports from Oct. 28-Nov. 4.
The data exceeded the number of travelers recorded during Undas 2021 with approximately 150,000 inbound and outbound passengers.
This year’s travelers for “Undas” were below the expected number of passenger traffic set by CPA due to the cancellation of trips on Oct. 28-30 due to Tropical Storm Paeng.
Based on the CPA consolidated report, a total of 118,564 inbound passengers and 119,253 outbound passengers trooped to seaports to return to their hometowns for Undas 2022.
