Discover authentic Taiwanese cuisine here

Tien Ma’s is a homegrown Asian restaurant in the Philippines that offers authentic Taiwanese dishes. It has successfully gathered a crowd of regular diners seeking its quality food since the opening of its first branch back in 2015.

Tien Ma launched its first branch in Retiro,Quezon City on Jan. 11, 2015. It is proud of serving authentic Taiwanese cuisine using family secret recipes passed on for generations.

The restaurant was named after Tien Liyuan, who was born in 1932 in Fang-Shan township, P’ing-tung county, Taiwan. “Tien” is her family name, and “Ma” refers to her as the mother, hence “Tien Ma” for “Mother Tien” or “Mama Tien.” Liyuan spent her childhood in coastal southern Taiwan, helping her mother cook and prepare meals for her younger siblings to bring to school.

She moved to the Zhongshan in Taipei as a young adult and perfected her xiao long bao (soup dumplings) recipe while working in the kitchen of a local high school. She then opened her stalls selling her xiao long bao in the night markets of Taipei and then retired and passed on her secret recipe to bring the best and authentic xiao long bao to us, in Manila.

What started as a night market stall as a means of surviving has now become a successful privately owned restaurant chain, with seven locations nationwide.

Today, xiao long bao is beloved at Tien Ma’s, alongside other signature Taiwanese dishes such as Taiwan-style fried rice, beef noodle soup, three-cup chicken, dumplings, and more.

Aside from the wide selection on the menu, the restaurant also takes pride in its affordability. Price ranges from ₱200 to ₱300 per dish, which can serve up to three people.

“We love Taiwanese cuisine and are so happy to bring an authentic Taiwanese experience to the local market at affordable prices. We are especially proud of our xiao long bao, which uses authentic Taiwanese ingredients. It is no wonder customers keep coming back for. We are also very excited to be opening more branches soon,” says Figaro Coffee Group (FCG) chairman, Justin Liu.

With its great-tasting dishes at affordable prices, Tien Ma’s has continued to grow with a strong following of regular customers, which has paved the way for continuous expansion. What started as a night market stall as a means of surviving has now become a successful privately owned restaurant chain, with seven locations nationwide, counting new locations at Waltermart North Edsa and in San Fernando, Pampanga. Delivery orders are also served by its partner, GrabFood.

Roasting only the best quality coffee

Since entering the food and beverage industry in 1993, Figaro Coffee, the pioneer brand of FCG, has always upheld its strict standards of quality. Fast forward to today, the café remains relevant by placing top priority on quality for every product on the menu.

For almost 29 years, the coffee chain has never lost sight of the very essence of what made it so successful—passion and love for the beverage. As one of the country’s leading homegrown Filipino coffee shops, Figaro Coffee consistently works on innovating and developing new and unique products to offer. Figaro is recognized for its high-quality coffee, cold drinks, pastries, and even whole coffee beans.

Many wonder how Figaro manages to maintain its prestige reputation throughout the years. The answer is simple—consistency and in-house production.

While some production can be outsourced, the company has chosen to do things in-house. The company roasts its coffee every week in its Mandaluyong roasting facility using a German Probat roaster, to ensure that customers always get freshly made and the best quality coffee possible.

Trained by the Institute for Coffee Excellence, FCG’s master roaster Randy Catapang and his team also keep abreast of the latest in coffee roasting technology. With the state-of-the-art roasting facility, meticulous sorting of beans, and proper blending combined, FCG is confident in providing the highest quality coffee beans.

For almost 29 years, the coffee chain has never lost sight of the very essence of what made it so successful—passion and love for the beverage.

“Our Quality Assurance department closely monitors the production of all of our products to ensure that they are of the highest caliber possible, making sure that all produced goods will be of the standard quality,” says FCG chief operating officer Mike Barrett.

Aside from serving an exquisite line of coffee-based beverages in stores, customers can also brew their coffee drinks at home with the use of Figaro’s beans. The brand offers seven different types of blends and roasts of coffee beans, which customers may use to craft their perfect cup of coffee at home or wherever they may be.

Coffee lovers can enjoy the aroma and taste of French Roast, Espresso Blend, High Mountain Arabica, House Reserve, Metro Blend, Country Blend, and the bestselling Barako Blend.

Figaro Coffee’s blends and roasts, which come in 250g packs, are available at Figaro stores nationwide, on Lazada, and the official website of The Figaro Group. thefigarogroup.ph
