YG Entertainment addresses health issue about lump on BLACKPINK member Jisoo's neck

YG Entertainment has issued a statement regarding concerns after a lump was seen on the neck of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK member Jisoo.

BLACKPINK members are currently holding their “Born Pink” world tour in the US. They were scheduled to hold the concert in Atlanta on Nov. 2 and 3.

Netizens raised concerns about BLACKPINK member Jisoo after several posts and photos of her with a lump on her neck spread on social media.

"The lump seems to keep getting bigger. I think she needs to go to the hospital and get a biopsy. It could be a mild fibroid, but it could also be a tumor," a netizen posted on social media along with the photo, Korean media reported on Nov. 3.

According to the report, it was not the first time that fans noticed the lump on Jisoo’s neck. She had the same lump on the exact same spot on the TV show and a past concert.

After news reports were published, YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s agency, addressed the health concern.

“Jisoo is currently performing well on her world tour schedule and has no health problems,” said YG Entertainment on Nov. 4 in a statement sent to Korean media.

The Medline Plus website stated that there are many causes of neck lumps.

“The most common lumps or swellings are enlarged lymph nodes. These can be caused by bacterial or viral infections, cancer (malignancy), or other rare causes,” it stated.

It added, “Swollen salivary glands under the jaw may be caused by infection or cancer. Lumps in the muscles of the neck are caused by injury or torticollis. These lumps are often at the front of the neck. Lumps in the skin or just below the skin are often caused by cysts, such as sebaceous cysts.”

“The thyroid gland may also produce swelling or one or more lumps. This can be due to thyroid disease or cancer. Most cancers of the thyroid gland grow very slowly. They are often cured with surgery, even if they have been present for several years,” the website stated.
