Rains still expected in Mindanao due to LPA

The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine boundary, formerly tropical cyclone Queenie, will still bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Mindanao within the next 24-hour period, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, Nov. 4.

The weather disturbance was last spotted 140 kilometers (km) southeast of Davao City. According to the state weather bureau, it will particularly affect Caraga and the Davao Region.

Residents of these areas were warned against possible flash floods and rain-induced landslides during moderate to heavy rains that may be brought by the LPA.

Meanwhile, generally fair weather will prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Maninipis na kaulapan na lang ang na-observe natin na umiiral (We have only observed thin clouds in the rest of the country),” said PAGASA Weather Specialist Daniel Villamil in a public weather forecast.

“Kaya hanggang tanghali ay inaasahan natin na magpapatuloy ang mainit na panahon at mamayang hapon hanggang sa gabi ay may tiyansa ng pulu-pulong pag-ulan at pagkidlat dulot ng localized thunderstorms (With this, we expect warm weather to continue until noon. Meanwhile, this afternoon until the evening, there is a chance of scattered rain showers and lightning due to localized thunderstorms),” he added.
