MENRO employee gunned down inside government facility in Zamboanga del Sur

ZAMBOANGA CITY - An employee of the Municipal Environmental and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) was shot dead by unidentified assailants inside a vocational school in Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur on Thursday, Nov. 3.
Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-9 Public Information Officer, identified the victim as Richard Butch Camanian Cabilan, 39, a resident of Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.
Cabilan was shot inside the Dumingag Institute of Sustainable Organic Agriculture (DISOA) Lower Landing in Dumingag.
Chang said the victim, who was attending a meeting inside the government facility, went to the back of the building to receive an incoming call.
Three gunmen arrived in the area and shot him using a short firearm.
The suspects then escaped by jumping over the fence of the government facility and boarded a motorcycle and a three-wheeled vehicle (BAJAJ).
The victim succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
Police recovered two fired cartridges of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
