House leader wants November to become 'Buy Pinoy, Build Pinoy' month
Deputy Speaker and Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar wants the month of November to be proclaimed as the “Buy Pinoy, Build Pinoy” month to rally support for local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

For this purpose, the solon filed House Bill (HB) 5682 as a means to provide a marketing platform before a national audience for local entrepreneurs and enterprises.
“As we transition to the economic recovery and revival, stronger support for local enterprises is crucial now more than ever. Assistance and support in the form of marketing, information, and capacity-building campaigns which can be drivers of sales and advertisement will be substantial to boost local businesses,” Villar said in her bill’s explanatory note.
“To declare November of each year as the ‘Buy Pinoy, Build Pinoy Month’ provides a huge marketing platform for a national audience, informs buyers of the positive implications of the celebration, and capacitates entrepreneurs to further improve their businesses,” she continued.
Villar explained that the event should be celebrated in November as a form of “strategic timing” given that consumers will get to support local enterprises during the holiday season.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) would be the lead implementing agency of this bill.
Throughout November, the DTI would organize MSME trade fairs, bazaars, marketing missions, information dissemination campaigns, and a two week long National Trade Fair exclusively for Filipino producers to be held simultaneously in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
