GPS tracker leads cops to robbery group's lair in Taguig, 4 arrested
A GPS (global positioning system) tracker installed on a cellular phone led to the arrest of four suspected members of a criminal group tagged as responsible in the series of robberies in Metro Manila and four provinces.
Police Brig. Gen. Melencio Nartatez, director of the Police Regional Office 4A, said the four suspects were collared in a raid in their safehouse in Taguig City.
Nabbed were Larry Perez Gilbero, 20; Jessierell Uesebio, 22; John Clister Balderama, 19; and, Diosadado Tamondong, Jr. 19.
"The location of the suspects was tracked by police investigators through the GPS Tracker installed in one of the stolen mobile phones of the victims," said Nartatez.
The cellular phones, according to the official, were taken from the employees of a convenience store in Imus City on Nov. 25 where the suspects also carted away P30,000.
The four suspects were also seen in the CCTV footage of the convenience store and.
Seized from them were two caliber .38 pistols with defaced serial numbers, a caliber .22 pistol, assorted ammunition, assorted stolen mobile phones, a hand grenade, motorcycle and a signature baseball cap used by one of the suspects during their robbery heist.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle was positively identified by crew victims as the one being used by the suspects during their escape.
A background check revealed that the suspects were involved in several robbery incidents transpired in Laguna, Rizal, Cavite Batangas, and Las Pinas City from September 2022 to November 2022.
"We are now running after their other cohorts," said Nartatez.
