ZAMBOANGA CITY – An Abu Sayyaf Group sub-leader detained for kidnapping at the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Jail in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi is facing additional charges of frustrated murder, police said.

The Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG) on Tuesday, Nov. 29, together with the Bongao police and intelligence operatives, served the warrants of arrest for frustrated murder to Injimar Mangkabong, alias “Bensar Jakari.”
CIDG-9 chief Col. John Francis Encinareal said the warrants were served at the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Jail.
Encinareal said the warrants for 25 counts of frustrated murder were issued by a Sulu court which recommended a bail P200,000 for each count for a total of P5 million.
Mangkabong is an Abu Sayyaf sub-leader under Idang Susukan operating in Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
He was reportedly involved in the abduction of Indonesian fishermen on Jan. 15, 2020 in Tambisan, Sandakan, Sabah and residents of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
The suspect was with Suhud Salasim, alias ‘’Ben Wagas,’’ and other ASG members when their boat capsized in the sea of Pasigan Laut in South Ubian, Tawi-Tawi on March 18, 2021. The mishap led to the rescue of three fishermen.
