MMDA deploys team to set up clean water source in 'Paeng'-hit Maguindanao
A 28-man team from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) was deployed on Thursday, Nov. 3, to Maguindanao to assist local residents who were affected by landslides and widespread flooding during the onslaught of severe tropical storm "Paeng".
MMDA Acting Chairman Romando Artes said the deployment was in response to the order of President Marcos to prioritize delivering supplies of drinking water to the typhoon victims in the province.

Artes said the the MMDA team is composed of personnel from the Public Safety Division.
"The team will set up water purifiers in various communities with limited to no supply of clean water. Some will also help in the ongoing operations to clear the roads affected by massive flooding and landslides," said Artes.
"They shall move from one calamity-stricken town in Maguindanao to another to provide clean water to typhoon victims," he added.
Artes said the MMDA team brought with them 40 units of portable water purification systems, which have the capacity of filtering 180 gallons of water per hour, and some materials for road clearing operations.

They have been tasked to coordinate with the 6th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army and stay in Maguindanao province for a period of 15 days.
Maguindanao is one of the hardest-hit province during the "Paeng" onslaught last week through landslides that buried 100 houses in one of the barangays, as well as widespread flooding.
Over 50 people were reported dead in Maguindanao alone.
