Imee sends tugboat to service commuters in Southern Tagalog region
Senator Imee Marcos is sending tomorrow a tugboat to service commuters in the Southern Tagalog region following the destruction by storm ‘’Paeng’’ of a bridge connecting San Juan town in Batangas and Sariaya town in Quezon province.
Marcos said she is in contact with Mark Leandro Mendoza, chief of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO), in the Batangas side, and Governor Helen Tan, in the Quezon side, on this issue.
‘’Nanawagan ako sa mga barge and tugboat owners magpahiram asap sa mga lgu at sa DWPH saan nasiraan ng mga tulay: Antique, Zambo, Cotabato (I am calling on barge and tugboat owners to loan as soon as possible their equipment to local government units (LGUS) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to be used in the provinces of Antique, Zamboanga and Cotabato,’’ she said.
The DPWH is rushing the repairs of numerous bridges, she said.
Several bridges in various areas of the country were destroyed or damaged by the storm.
Marcos also said she has called on Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago and private owners of barges and tugboats to assist the crossings in areas that have now lost their bridges.
These areas would soon have a barge to serve vehicles and individuals, she added.
