Fair weather in Luzon; trough of LPA affects VisMin – PAGASA
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail in Visayas and Mindanao over the next 24-hour period due to the trough of low pressure area (LPA), formerly known as tropical cyclone Queenie.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), on Thursday, Nov. 3, said the LPA was last seen 420 kilometers east of General Santos City.

Due to this weather disturbance, Visayas and Mindanao – particularly eastern Visayas, northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Bohol, Lanao del Sur, and Maguindanao provinces will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the said LPA.
“Sa mga nabanggit na lugar, maghanda tayo sa mga banta ng biglaang pagbaha o pagguho ng lupa sa mga event ng moderate to heavy rains na dala nitong trough o extension ng low pressure area (In the aforementioned areas, let us prepare for the threats of sudden flooding or landslides in the event of moderate to heavy rains that may be brought by this trough or extension of LPA),” said PAGASA Weather Specialist Daniel Villamil in a public weather forecast.
“Dahil sa epekto ng mga ulan na dala ni Paeng, posibleng saturated pa rin ang mga lupa sa nabanggit na lugar kaya mataas pa rin ang tiyansa ng landslides (Due to the rains brought by Paeng, it is possible that the soils in the aforementioned areas are still saturated, so the probability of landslides is still high),” he added.
Meanwhile, generally fair weather, with a high chance of thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening, may be experienced in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Due to the influence of the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” a gale warning remained hoisted over the seabords of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, northern coast of Cagayan, and the northern coast of Ilocos Norte.
