K-pop artist Chuu, who was ousted by her own agency from the girl group Loona on Nov. 25, broke her silence and denied abuse accusations.
In December last year, Chuu filed a request with a court for a temporary injunction to suspend her exclusive contract with her agency, Blockberry Creative. The court partially granted her request last March.
Last Nov. 25, Blockberry Creative announced the removal of Chuu from Loona, claiming that she used abusive language and abuse of power (“gapjil” in Korean) toward a staff member.
"However, recently, there have been reports that Chuu has been verbally abusive and misusing her power against the staff. It turned out to be true, and the agency's head is now consoling the staff members. The agency has decided to take responsibility and remove Chuu from the group. We apologize to the staff who have been greatly hurt by this incident,” the agency said, Korea JoongAng Daily reported.
On Nov. 28, Chuu took to Instagram to deny her former agency’s accusations.
“Thank you so much for the concern and comfort of many people,” she said.
She added, “I have not been contacted or known about this series of situations, so I am grasping the situation, but what is clear is that I have never done anything to embarrass the fans.”
“I will tell you again as soon as my position is decided. Thank you so much for your concern and trust,” she said.
After Chuu was removed from the group, it was reported on Nov. 28 that nine members of Loona have filed an application for injunction to suspend their exclusive contracts with Blockberry Creative.
JTBC Entertainment News published an exclusive report stating that Loona members HeeJin, HaSeul, YeoJin, Kim Lip, JinSoul, Choerry, Yves, Go Won and Olivia Hye filed the injunction excluding Vivi and HyunJin.
The nine members reportedly made the decision after judging that the mutual trust with Blockberry Creative has been broken, making it difficult to have work and activities under the agency. Blockberry Creative denied this.
