Businessman Alfredo C. Ramos has passed away last Nov. 26, 2022 at the age of 79.
Once listed by Forbes Magazine as among the Philippines’ Richest, Ramos is the son of National Book Store founder, Socorro Ramos and heads companies that have business interests in publishing, mining, oil exploration, financial services, hotel, property development, retail development, shopping center, gaming and public transport.

Ramos’ demise was disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange by several of his publicly listed companies including Anglo Philippine Holdings Corporation, United Paragon Mining Corporation (UPMC), The Philodrill Corporation, Shang Properties Inc., and Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation.
“Mr. Ramos was a visionary. His business style and perspective most often transcended the times. His insightful guidance to the Company’s Management led the Company towards resiliency and success. His contributions to the Company will forever be remembered,” said UPMC.
He was the Chairman of Atlas Mining, Anglo Philippines, UPMC, Philodrill, Atlas Publishing Group of Companies, Anvil Publishing, National Book Store, Inc., Vulcan Industrial and Mining Corporation, Penta Capital Finance Corporation and Trafalgar Holdings Philippines, Inc.
Ramos was also Vice Chairman of Shang Properties, Shangri-La Plaza Corporation, and Penta Capital Holdings Corporation as well as the President of Abacus Book and Card Corporation and Crossings Department Store.
He left behind his mother Socorro, his wife Precy, and their children Adrian Paulino, Gerard Anton, and Maureen Alexandra Ramos-Padilla. Adrian had taken the reins of most of the family business in recent years.
