Chery Tiggo denies Creamline Grand Slam bid; Petro Gazz, Cignal set up finals duel

Chery Tiggo denied Creamline of a Grand Slam bid despite the Cool Smashers prevailing over the Crossovers, 25-16, 20-25, 14-25, 25-11, 15-9, at the end of the semifinals in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Creamline’s victory tied them with Petro Gazz and Cignal at 2-1 in the round-robin phase, but the Angels and the HD Spikers earned the championship berths via superior set ratio.

Earlier, Petro Gazz turned back Cignal, 25-14, 25-21, 25-27, 25-19.

The Angels and the HD Spikers start their best-of-three finals on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the same venue.

Yeliz Basa gave her best for Creamline and tallied 27 points, while Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza chipped in 18 and 12 points, but their third-set defeat sealed their fate early.
