Man wanted for estafa nabbed in Caloocan; 6 household members held for assaulting cop

A man wanted for estafa was arrested along with six members of his household who assaulted one of the police officers serving the arrest order against him in Barangay 90, Caloocan City on Sunday, Nov. 27.

The Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) identified the suspects as Oliver Cordova, 41; Ouvrie Steff Cordova, 22; Mary Ann Cordova, 43; Omar Cordova, 20; Kenchi Milano, 21; Vergilio Cordova, 62; and a 17-year-old boy , all residents of Barangay 90, Caloocan City.

According to the police report, CCPS Station Intelligence Section personnel went to the house of the suspects at about 12 p.m. on Sunday to serve the warrants of arrest for estafa and other forms of deceit against Oliver Cordova.

The warrant of arrest for estafa under Republic Act No. 10951 against Oliver was issued last July 22 by Judge Benelita Jocson Mones-Borromeo of Caloocan City Metropolitan Trial Court (MTC) Branch 84.

The warrants for other forms of deceit were issued last Aug. 23 and Sept. 23 by Judges Gloria Duclayan Santos Jr. and Maria Lorenza I. Barias-Siosana of Caloocan City MTC Branches 51 and 49.

Police said that upon the arrest of Oliver, the suspects and the minor jointly assaulted one of the arresting officers, Cpl. Ramil Johnson Francisco, to delay the apprehension.

The cops immediately arrested the six household members after injuring Francisco.

Oliver along with five other suspects were brought to Caloocan City Medical Center for a physical examination before their turn over to the city custodial facility. The teenager was brought to the Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD).

The six arrested suspects will be charged with obstruction of justice under Article 318 and direct assault under Article 148 of the Revised Penal Code, police said.
