Nine members of K-pop group Loona have filed an application for injunction against their agency, Blockberry Creative, seeking to suspend their exclusive contracts.
JTBC Entertainment News published an exclusive report on Nov. 28 stating that Loona members HeeJin, HaSeul, YeoJin, Kim Lip, JinSoul, Choerry, Yves, Go Won and Olivia Hye filed the injunction excluding Vivi and HyunJin.
The nine members reportedly made the decision after judging that the mutual trust with Blockberry Creative has been broken, making it difficult to have work and activities under the agency.
Blockberry Creative denied that the nine members filed an application for injunction.
The news report came out just days after Blockberry Creative ousted member Chuu from Loona and accused her of abusive language and abuse of power (“gapjil” in Korean).
In December last year, Chuu filed a request with a court for a temporary injunction to suspend her exclusive contract with the agency. The court partially granted her request last March.
As a result, she freely conducted her individual activities without agency restrictions.
The report added that Loona, which debuted as a whole group in 2018, signed a seven-year contract with Blockberry Creative.
It added that if the nine members win, it will be difficult for Loona to carry out activities as a whole group under Blockberry Creative and may result in the group’s disbandment.
According to the report, Blockberry Creative experienced financial difficulties. Last year, there was an issue of the company failing to pay outsourcing companies and outsourced personnel. Chuu was also not paid, it added.
