3 Western Visayas MSMEs bag SETUP PRAISE award


ILOILO CITY – Three micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Western Visayas region won the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) PRAISE award in the recent 2022 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) in Manila.

Engr. Rowen Gelonga, Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Western Visayas director, said the recipients – Herbanext Laboratories Inc., Negros Prawn Producers Cooperative (NPPC), and Filbake Food Corp. – were able to utilize DOST’s technical assistance to improve products and business.

Herbanext Laboratories Inc. is a company based in Bago City, Negros Occidental province that specializes in spray-dried medicine from Philippine plants.

The Negros Prawn Producers Cooperative in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental engaged in aquaculture was also one of the awardees for Most Resilient MSMEs.

Filbake Food Corp. of Kalibo town, Aklan province was declared as Most Industry 4.0 Ready Award for MSMEs or the iReady. Filbake is a supplier of bakery and other baking products through its local bakery brand, Bread and Butter.
