11 cops injured in Negros road crash

BACOLOD CITY – Eleven policemen were injured after their patrol car crashed into a barrier and overturned in Purok 1, Barangay Caningay, Candoni, Negros Occidental on Monday, Nov. 28.

Injured were Patrolmen Jerome Tolentino, Joey Bana-ag, Erick Abela, Immam James Apucay, Jared King Dadivas, and Bryan Ambajan and Corporals Mark Jil Salazar, John Arevalo, Noriel Vergara, Kenneth Valiao, and Regie Tacdoro.

They are personnel of 604th Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-6.

Investigation showed that Apucay lost control of the vehicle while negotiating the descending portion of the curved road.

Major Ruel Culanag, Candoni police chief, said the vehicle hit a barrier and overturned.

Eleven of the 16 policemen onboard were injured and taken to a hospital, Culanag added.

Culanag said that the policemen were conducting road security and routinary inspection when the accident happened.
