Hot, humid weather expected in most of Luzon, Visayas; isolated rain showers in Palawan, Mindanao

Hot and humid weather will prevail over most of Luzon and Visayas, while isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may persist in Palawan and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Nov. 27.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said the easterlies—or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ)—an area where winds coming from the northern and southern hemispheres meet, will be the dominant weather systems in the country.
While most of Luzon and Visayas will have warm and humid weather due to the easterlies, the ITCZ may bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Palawan and Mindanao.
Moreover, Estareja said a cloud cluster east of Visayas is continuously being monitored as it is possible to approach the land and bring rains in parts of Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas.
He said PAGASA is also monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) that was estimated 2,200 kilometers east of Mindanao or outside the country’s area of responsibility as of Sunday morning.
The LPA may approach the country and bring rains as early as Wednesday, Nov. 30, and continue to bring rains over a large part of Mindanao and Visayas in the early days of December, Estareja said.
He added that PAGASA is not ruling out the possibility that the LPA will become a tropical depression as it approaches land.
