Truck driver, helper electrocuted in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – A truck driver and his helper died after they were electrocuted in Purok Kalong-Kalong, Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Friday, Nov. 25.

Lt. Col. Gil John Despi, Cadiz City police chief, identified the victims as Eddie Dejito, 49, of Barangay Rafaela Barrera, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, and Ronnie Antojado, 26, of Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

Investigation showed the truck loaded with sugarcane got caught on an electrical wire, prompting the victims to alight.

However, they accidentally touched a dangling part of the wire on a utility pole and were electrocuted.

Despi said the victims were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.
