Vhong Navarro to finish quarantine at Taguig City Jail on Nov. 28

Detained TV host and comedian Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro will end his quarantine in the Taguig City Jail Male Dormitory on Monday, Nov. 28.

This is according to Jail Senior Insp. Hernand Macoy of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-National Capital Region (BJMP-NCR).

TV host Vhong Navarro arrived at the Taguig City Jail on Nov. 21 (left) and is currently under quarantine (NBI, Navarro's Facebook account and Taguig City Jail Male Dormitory on Facebook)

The Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 issued a commitment order to transfer Navarro from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) detention center in Manila to the Taguig City Jail.

The court is handling the rape case filed against Navarro by model Deniec Cornejo. It issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against the TV host on Sept. 19.

Navarro was transferred to the Taguig City Jail Male Dormitory on Nov. 21 and is classified as a person deprived of liberty (PDL).

He underwent a medical check upon his arrival at the jail facility. Under BJMP rules, Navarro, who is fully vaccinated against Covid-19, had to undergo a seven-day quarantine in compliance with health protocols.

Macoy said, "Mr. Navarro is in good health."

The Taguig City Jail will determine if there is a security threat against Navarro and will decide if he will be detained together with other PDLs.

Navarro is accused of raping Cornejo on Jan. 17, 2014 in her condominium unit in Taguig, which he denied. He is one of the hosts of the ABS-CBN variety program “It’s Showtime.”

He has filed a petition for bail with the Taguig RTC Branch 69 seeking for his provisional liberty from detention. The court has yet to rule on the petition.
