QCPD marks 83rd Founding Anniversary

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) celebrated its 83rd Founding Anniversary at the QCPD Grandstand, Camp Karingal, Brgy. Sikatuna Village in Quezon City on Friday, Nov. 25.

For this year's celebration, which was themed "QCPD Tagapaglunsad ng Serbisyong may Malasakit, Patnubay ng Kaayusan at Kapayapaan, Kaagapay tungo sa Kaunlaran, Katuwang and Simbahan at Pamayanan ng Lungsod Quezon," the QCPD awarded plaques of recognitions to its different police stations for their invaluable service in responding to complaints and crime incidents in their respective areas.

It also recognized various government and non-government organizations for thier unwavering support to the QCPD police stations.

Former QCPD Director and QC Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) Head Chief Supt. Elmo San Diego delivered a speech on behalf of Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

"Mahigit walong dekada ng katuwang ng QCPD ang QC sa pangangalaga sa lugar at mga mamamayan dito. Ngayong umaga, kinikilala natin ang ating mga kapulisan na nagpakita ng exemplary service which were awarded this morning. Isang very snappy salute na galing sa mayor natin (For more than eight decades, QCPD has partnered with QC in protecting the area and its citizens. This morning, we recognize our police officers who showed exemplary service which were awarded earlier. A very snappy salute from our mayor," he said.

He added the QC mayor was very impressed with the projects implemented by QCPD.

San Diego also commended QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Nicolas D Torre III for consistently implementing immediate responses during police operations.

William Marcos, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s son, also attended the event to deliver his congratulatory message to the QCPD officers.

"Today, I'm deeply honored to be given the opportunity to be part of your 83rd QCPD Founding Anniversary. We are all aware that even if we are still in pandemic, our uniformed police officers are still expected to deliver their efficient and prompt public service especially in their areas of responsibility," President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s son said.

He enumarated some of the QCPD initiative’s to ensure the safety and security of the community such as the conduct of regular police visibility, establishment visitations, anti-criminility checkpoints, school visitations, giving lectures on drug awareness, and information dessimination on online sexual abuse and violence against women and children.

The QCPD held a “Police Community Run for a Cause” event on Nov. 20, as part of its founding anning annivarsary celeration. It was followed by a canvas making contest among the city cops and civillians.

Former QC mayor Tomas Morato established the QCPD on Nov. 25, 1939, to maintain peace and order in the city.
