PCSO turns over P11.7 million lotto, STL share to Visayas LGUs


The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) turned over a lotto and small town lottery (STL) shares worth P11,788,540 to 27 local government units (LGUs) in Visayas on Thursday, Nov. 24.

The check was personally handed by PCSO General Manager Mel Robles to the LGUs officials at a turnover ceremony held in Malay, Aklan.

It was attended by leaders and representatives from Aklan and municipalities of Banga, Nabas, Numacia, Makato, and Malay; Roxas City, Capiz; Iloilo and Iloilo City; Silay City and Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental; Tanjay City and Bindoy, Negros Oriental; Consolacion, Cebu; municipalities in Eastern Samar including Dolores, Taft, Jipapad, Balangkayan, Balangiga, Can-Avid, and Borongan City, and Leyte.

PCSO noted that the given amount was a part of the P43,739,341.81 overall lotto and STL share of the region.

Last Nov. 14, PCSO also dispensed P6.3 million lotto and STL shares to Pasig City and San Juan City LGUs.

The checks were received by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora.

These initiatives were in compliance with PCSO's mandate of allocating 30 percent of its income to charity services.

It is being done through partnerships with government offices and organizations.

Meanwhile, 55 percent of the agency's income is set aside for game prizes and the remaining 15 percent is for operations.
