Major Gen. Roy Galido, Joint Task Force Central commander, said the fatalities were members of the East Daguma Front (EDF), Sub-Regional Committee Daguma (SRC Daguma), Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR).

The front is led by Dennis Dulonan, alias “Kalbo,” executive committee member and deputy secretary.

Galido said the 7th Infantry Battalion led by Lt. Col. Frederick Chicote of the 603rd Brigade encountered the communist guerrillas in Sitios Sandigan and Mudti at about 5:30 a.m.

The NPA fled and left behind AK47, three M16 rifles, magazines, propaganda materials, and personal belongings.

Operating troops continue to scour the area for the fleeing rebels.

Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command acting commander Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas said there is no let-up in the military campaign against the NPA.

“This recent encounter exemplifies that the CTG capabilities are significantly degraded. Rest assured that we will sustain our current campaign and strengthen our partnership with all stakeholders to destroy the remaining threat groups who refuse to return to the folds of the law,” Rojas said.

Dulonan has a standing warrant of arrest for arson and frustrated murder.
