'Let's wait for new Malaysian PM to spell out policies' --- PH envoy

It is still early to determine the impact of the appointment of Anwar Ibrahim as the new prime minister of Malaysia to his country’s relations with the Philippines, Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Charles Jose said.

Jose said members of Anwar’s future cabinet must be identified first to know his foreign policy, particularly his bilateral relationship with the country.

He made the remark as he noted Anwar’s “familiarity” with the Philippines, having visited the country when he was still the deputy prime minister.

Currently, the Philippines has dormant claims against Malaysia over Sabah.

"Hintayin po natin na ma-name nya yung kanyang cabinet, especially yung kaniyang foreign minister, para malaman natin kung ano yung mga foreing polcy nila, and particularly yung impact sa ASEAN (Let’s wait for him to name his Cabinet members, especially his foreign ministers, to know his foreign policy, particularly towards the Association of Southeast Asian Nations)," Jose said in an interview with Teleradyo on Thursday night.
