Issuing a statement, DepED said that its officials joined education leaders and representatives worldwide in this year’s EDUtech Asia 2022 held in Singapore earlier this month.

DepED was led by Undersecretary for Legislative Affairs and Partnerships Gerard L. Chan. The Philippine Education Department presented the Basic Education Development Plan (BEDP) 2030, the K-12 Basic Education Program, and TESDA’s “Tulong-Trabaho” Program further to “illustrate the future of education” in the country.

The DepEd was invited by the organizer Terrapinn Pte Ltd to speak at the Keynote Policy Panel: How the future of work is shaping education.

Other panel members were representatives from Southeast Asia, which includes education learners from Ministries of Education in Cambodia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, with a moderator from Microsoft.

Other countries also discussed education-related topics. Vietnam, for instance, talked about the promotion of digitalization of Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Cambodia shared how they worked on integrating climate change into curriculum and technology while Malaysia is working on integrating Digital Citizenship and Global Citizenship Education (GCED).

DepED said that the panel delivered an insightful discussion on developing a roadmap to inclusive, equitable, and accessible education alongside innovation in the curriculum to meet the needs of the skills-based economy of the future.
