Widescope's Ebe Dancel, Noel Mendez win in 35th Awit Awards

Pinoy band scene icon Ebe Dancel won Best Ballad Recording for his song “Manatili” at the 35th Awit Awards

Singer-songwriter Ebe Dancel and his label mate Noel Mendez won at the 35th Awit Awards, becoming the first artists under the wing of Widescope Entertainment to bring home trophies given by the prestigious award-giving body for musical excellence.

Widescope had been accepted as official member of PARI this year, as five of their signed artists were nominated in categories for various genres and fan base relevance.

Now under the wing of Widescope, iconic band Side A earned Awit Award nomination for People’s Voice Favorite Group Artist. 

Dancel, best known for being the front man of hit-making band Sugarfree, won Best Ballad Recording for his solo single “Manatili.” He has established himself as a stand-alone act in recent years, and is currently working for Widescope as Artist and Repertoire (A&R) manager.

Revered instrumentalist Noel Mendez won the Best Jazz Recording and Best Instrumental Performance awards for the track “Cutting Candy”.

Ace bossa nova act Sitti, now with Widescope, got nominated for People’s Voice Favorite Female Artist, while her single 'Buti Na Lang Hindi Ikaw' was given a shot for Best World Music Recording.

Widescope is releasing his latest single “EZ” Friday, Nov. 25.

“It’s an honor for Widescope to have been accepted as an official member of PARI this year and for several of our artists and song releases nominated in the latest edition of Awit Awards,” said Neil Gregorio, the label’s music and entertainment director.

Revered instrumentalist Noel Mendez won Best Jazz Recording and Best Instrumental Performance awards for the track 'Cutting Candy'. 

Widescope Entertainment Corporation is helmed by industry veteran Vic De Vera.

Dancel, among the greatest songwriters and voices in Pinoy rock scene history, was also nominated for People’s Voice Favorite Male Artist, while his topnotch lady counterpart at Widescope, Sitti, got nominated for People’s Voice Favorite Female Artist. Sitti’s single “Buti Na Lang Hindi Ikaw” was also given a shot for Best World Music Recording.

Also nominated were the iconic Side A for People’s Voice Favorite Group Artist and Letrang Norte’s “Tahanan” for Best World Music Recording.

The 35th Awit Awards was held at Newport World Resorts, Wednesday night, Nov. 23.
