This we know: Korina Sanchez-Roxas made a name for herself as a news anchor and host of her eponymous talk shows where she interviewed people by her lonesome.

But, in a coming show on OnePH that premieres on Dec. 3 entitled "TikTalks," Korina shares the spotlight with four other personalities who are raring to have no-holds-barred discussions with her on topics people talk about in real life but are seldom amplified in media.

"We've always wanted to do something different. Eh ang forte ko naman daldal. Ano bang pwedeng daldal ang hindi ko pa nagagawa," Korina narrated. As the saying goes, two heads are better than one, but in this case, there are five of them coming from different backgrounds with varying voices on issues that will be discussed extensively in TikTalks.

Joining Korina in the panel are magazine editor and LGBTQIA+ advocate G3 San Diego, actress and singer Kakai Bautista, columnist and radio/TV host Pat-P Daza, and stand-up comic and comedy writer Alex Calleja.

Korina said shows focusing on real talk are "rare and refreshing" in the broadcast media landscape. They will steer the discussion as if they were just "having a mahjong session at home or enjoying a wine night."

"Ang mga topics namin, yun yung karaniwang pinag-uusapan ng mga magkakaibigan pag nagsama-sama sila," noted G3, who is making history as the first trans-woman talk show host with her participation in TikTalks.

The topics range from why Filipinos are so obsessed with skin whitening to why some people resort to noselifts, revealed Pat-P. At least three topics are discussed per episode which are a combination of "light, medium and heavy." Of course, social issues and current events are included in the mix.

Korina recalled how she and her fellow line producer Joji Dingcong were assembling the cast of five who would comprise TikTalks. Originally, it would be an all-women show but after much thought, Korina opted to include Alex as the only male in the group because they've worked in other projects.

"Yung humor nya, pang tunay na lalaki so I thought, we want a guy with that kind of humor, and we were not mistaken," the mom of twins stated.

"We have Kakai who is a comedienne and has a good head on our shoulders. Makulay din ang kanyang nakaraan, and I really wanted a singer na bigla na lang kakanta kung ano man ang hugot ng pinag-uusapan namin," she quipped.

G3 was a shoo-in because she promotes inclusivity. " We have a vocal and unabashed LGBTQIA+ representative and that's G3," Korina said. "Syempre gusto namin yung medyo pala-isip at may opinyon."

"Of course, we have a radio journalist who is Patty daza at si Patty, barkada ko kasi talaga sa kainan ito," Korina said, laughing. "Alam ko na hindi na nya kailangang magsalita. Kailangan lang nyang tumawa. Yung tawa nya ang ambag nya, pero sa totoo lang sya ang pinaka-Marites sa aming lahat."

Pat-P replied jokingly: "I really enjoy talking, lalo na kung babayaran mo ako para magsalita, mas enjoy ako."

Korina said she had to assess the "chemistry" of everyone involved in the show.

"I took time to really get to know each and every one of them before I chose them and I'm glad we were not mistaken," she said in the vernacular.

"Alex is exactly the way I expected him to be… G3, Pat-P and Kakai, the same. Natutuwa naman ako na hindi ako nagkamali sa mga impressions or sa pagkakakilala ko sa kanila. It's just now we're real friends and we get to see each other more often. Nagtutulungan din kami kahit papaano. Parang nagkaroon kami ng isa pang pamilya,"

Korina pointed out that after doing hard news for decades, doing something that's light and easy for TikTalks is something she "has always wanted to do."

"Am really enjoying the lighter side of things because honestly, life is short. And I wanna live very long kasi maliliit pa lang ang mga anak ko. Three years old pa lang sila. I have to live to be 120 years old, kaya kailangan maraming tawanan," she shared.

TikTalks premieres on Dec. 3 and airs every Saturday at 8:00 pm on One PH, simulcast on TV5 and Radyo Singko 92.3 News FM (with catch-up airing on One News every Sunday at 7:00 pm starting Dec. 4). OnePH is available on Cignal Channel 1, SatLite Channel 1 and on Cignal Play app.
