TACLOBAN CITY - At least six members of the New People’s Army were killed and several firearms were seized in an encounter with the 803rd Army Brigade in Las Navas, Northern Samar on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
A 10-year old civilian and two soldiers were wounded in the exchange of fires.

A total of 16 high-powered firearms including a 7.62 caliber 60 machine gun, 11 M16 Rifles, an 5.56mm M4 rifle, an AK47, an M14, and a bushmaster were recovered by the authorities in an operation that lasted for over an hour after the clash.
The troops were securing government projects in the hinterlands of Las Navas when they encountered more or less 60 armed rebels in Brgy. Imelda of said town.
Upon sensing strong resistance from a heavily fortified enemy position surrounded by anti-personnel mines, the government troops immediately requested close air and indirect fire support.
The Tactical Operation Group-8 responded immediately by providing close air support to the troops in combat and delivering fires to the CTGs' locations.
It was followed by the delivery of indirect fires from 105mm Howitzers.
