Motorcycle rider dies in Negros road mishap

BACOLOD CITY -- A young man died after his motorcycle collided with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) at Hacienda Nueva, Barangay To-oy, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

The Himamaylan City police identified the victim as Lito Garzon, 22, of Barangay 3 here.

Cpl. Mark John Dato, traffic investigator of Himamaylan City Police Station, said that an SUV driven by a 62-year-old woman reportedly overtook two trucks, and collided with Garzon’s motorcycle.

Dato said the victim was not wearing a helmet. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital due to severe chest pain and head injury.

Dato said the SUV driver was also brought to a hospital in Kabankalan City, due to chest pain.

The two parties have reached a settlement, according to the traffic investigator.
