Anti-kidnapping operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two foreigners for the alleged kidnapping of their countryman who was rescued in Antipolo City after a ransom payoff.
PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. said the two Vietnamese were arrested a day after they abandoned their victim at Blue Mountain, Sumulong Highway, Antipolo City at 1:30PM on November 16 where she was rescued.
Nabbed were Minh Viet Phan, 29; and Chi Trung Nguyen, 27.
The victim was abducted on Oct. 29 and later in the evening, her boyfriend received a message and a video of the victim being beaten.
The suspects demanded P50 million ransom but it was later reduced to P1 million which was deposited in two tranches in a US dollar account.
After the payment, the victim was released.
Azurin said Minh was collared in a condo unit in Pasay City on Nov. 17 while Chi inside a KTV bar in Parañaque City the following day.
The two Vietnamese suspects are undergoing investigation prior to filing of criminal complaint as prime suspects for Kidnapping for Ransom and Serious Illegal Detention. On the other hand, operations are underway for the arrest of other suspects.
