Young man killed, pal hurt as motorcycle rams parked truck in Negros

BACOLOD CITY â€“ A young man was killed while his companion was injured after their motorcycle crashed into a parked truck in Barangay Patun-an, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Monday, Nov. 21.

Police identified the victim and the driver of the motorcycle as Christian Arellano, 18, of Barangay Lalong, Calatrava.

Major Lumyaen Lidawan, Calatrava police chief, said Arellano and Larry Delima, 20, of Barangay Menchaca, Calatrava, were on their way home when they hit the rear of a truck parked in the area due to mechanical trouble.

The truck had an early warning device but the victim failed to see it because the area was not well-lighted, he added.

Lidawan said the victims reportedly under the influence of liquor were allegedly speeding while approaching the curved part of the road.

He said that all parties involved have already met for a settlement.
