Rainy weather persists in parts of Luzon, Mindanao

Two weather systems may continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over parts of Luzon and Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

PAGASA said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may bring cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga del Sur

ITCZ is a line where winds coming from the northern and hemispheres converge.

PAGASA said the easterlies—or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean—may also bring cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, and Masbate.

PAGASA warned those in areas affected by the ITCZ and easterlies to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

It said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the next 24 hours.

However, the public is advised to be vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusts of wind, and sometimes hail.
