P4.8-M marijuana destroyed in Ilocos Sur-Benguet

Authorities have destroyed marijuana totaling P4,827,500 in the boundaries of Ilocos Sur and Benguet.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 1 (Ilocos) Director Ronald Allan DG Ricardo said that they uprooted more or less 11,200 fully grown marijuana plants and seized 2,000 marijuana seedlings and 700 dried marijuana stalks valued at P2,427,500 in a 1,404-square meter plantation in the boundaries of Barangay Licungan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur and Sitio Culliang, Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet on Saturday, Nov. 19.

The next day, Sunday, Nov. 20, Ricardo said 12,000 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P2.4 million were uprooted in another plantation in the area.

The marijuana was destroyed and burned on-site.
