TACLOBAN CITY – The Army 46th Infantry Battalion recovered an arms cache of the New People’s Army in Barangay Sinalangtan, Calbiga, Samar on Sunday, Nov. 20.
Eighteen high-powered firearms and ammunition were recovered – six M16 rifles, four M14 rifles, four AK-47s, one shotgun, one KG9, one caliber .38, one M79, and 14 magazines for AK-47.
Troops discovered the weapons following information from a 19-year-old NPA surrenderer to the 46th IB led by Lt. Col. Juanito Parazo Jr. based in Calbiga.
The surrenderer was a member of Squad 3 of Bugsok Platoon, SRC Sesame, of the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee.
He yielded a caliber .45 pistol.
The firearms uncovered by an Army intelligence platoon and a squad from the Charlie Company of the 46th IB have been placed in the custody of the Army.
