Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Filemon “Yogi” Ruiz was guest at the Manila Bulletin Hot Seat, where he outlined his administration’s achievements, as well as its targets for the years to come.
For one, Ruiz said he was eyeing a target of P1 trillion of revenue for the agency, a personal target he has set for himself given the BOC’s exemplary performance this year.
And being a former Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) officer, Ruiz has also turned up the heat against the importation of illegal drugs.
Meanwhile, United States Vice President Kamala Harris visited Palawan, and pledged a P7.5-million aid to fight illegal and unsustainable forms of fishing.
She also said the Philippines should be able to stand up to any illegal activities or harassment that may transpire in disputed areas of the South China Sea.
