ILOILO CITY – African Swine Fever has spread to a seventh town in Iloilo province.

The Iloilo Provincial Veterinary Office confirmed Tuesday, Nov. 22, that hogs in Barangay Janipaan East, Mina town have been infected with ASF.
Dr. Darel Tabuada, chief provincial veterinarian, disclosed that blood samples of hogs sent to the Department of Agriculture (DA) testing center turned out positive for ASF.
Tabuada did not disclose how many hogs in Barangay Janipaan East have been infected.
About 270 confirmed cases of ASF have been logged in Iloilo and Oton town, where the first ASF case was recorded, had 206 cases as of Nov. 21.
A number of cases have also been recorded in the towns of San Miguel, Alimodian, and New Lucena.
Tabuada noted that the ASF cases in Mina are in a neighboring barangay of the cases in New Lucena. Barangay Janipaan East is within the 500-meter radius of the index case in New Lucena.
