From comfortable undies to pieces perfect for the red days, this collection got you covered!
While fashion aims to make women feel their most beautiful selves, there are days when it becomes the root of the problem. From the simplest things like pinchy bras and visible underwear lines to picking what to wear during their red days, dressing up can be a challenge for the ladies, and, sometimes, tend to leave them under so much stress. But these days, fashion is becoming more friendly toward women with brands prioritizing function and comfort during their design process. Among those giving more support to women through clothes is Uniqlo.

This month, the Japanese fashion label introduces its latest fall-winter 2022 collection, in collaboration with womenswear brand Mame Kurogouchi designed by Maiko Kurogouchi. The line aims to address women’s dressing woes by offering pieces that are made from new materials and clothing technology, ultimately, making women feel at ease while wearing the clothes.
“This is truly a special collection for us as Mame Kurogouchi is a Japanese womenswear brand that is known worldwide for its intricately constructed details and unconventional textiles,” says Georgette Barrera-Jalasco, vice president for marketing of Uniqlo Philippines. “What makes this collection unique as well is that we combined Mame’s design with the technology of Uniqlo.”
According to Georgette, the brand listens to its customers and has updated the pieces of the collection to suit their needs. One of the highlight pieces of the collection is the wireless bra. Created using the newly launched silk blend Heattech, this alternative to an underwire bra has a smoother feel against the skin and assures support to women of all bust sizes.
Dressing during menstruation is also one of the challenges many women face. As it is a natural part of a woman’s life, it is just right for brands to offer pieces that will help them during their red days. In Uniqlo’s case, its Airism absorbent sanitary shorts is a dependable piece during that period as it is water-resistant and anti-bacterial.
What makes this collection a standout is its pieces’ ability to transition from innerwear to outwear. Pieces such as the seamless wireless bra top, Airism bra slip, and 3D souffle yarn bustier could easily be part of the ladies’ everyday outfit choices. The collection, which comes in delicious shades of earth colors, also features body-shaper shorts, socks, and see-through tights.
“Mame saw the shift in women’s wardrobes and their expectations for everyday products,” Georgette says. “She imagined how to elevate the innerwear for Uniqlo. And this is what gave birth to this collection.”
