The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Monday, Nov. 21, that the construction of the 2.4 lane kilometer road leading to the Philippine Sports Training Center (PSTC) in Bagac, Bataan is being expedited to meet the target completion date.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan stated that the P55 million road project will provide a safer and more comfortable route to the “state-of-the-art sports complex for the country's national and local athletes.’’
"The DPWH Bataan Second District Engineering Office (DEO) is implementing the road project that involves the construction of a two-lane road with 280-mm thick pavement; sidewalks with curb and gutter; and, 1.5-meter-wide standard bike lane," Bonoan said.
Since construction kicked-off in May 2022, DPWH Regional 3 Office Director Roseller Tolentino said that the project has already reached an accomplishment rate of 60 percent as of October 2022 with the target completion eyed in early 2023.
When completed, the project will connect the PSTC to Gov. J.J. Lino Road in Balanga City via World Bank Road.
Tolentino explained that the PSTC is a big-ticket project of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) currently being developed on a 25-hectare land in Barangay Parang in Bagac town.
The structure will showcase the facilities and amenities that include administrative, sports, science, and medical centers, as well as dormitories for the athletes and coaches. (Chito A. Chavez)
