House Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 2nd district Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo sounded equal parts proud and impressevd with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s maiden participation at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
According to Arroyo, Marcos’s participation at the APEC Summit, which this year was held in Bangkok, Thailand, represented the latter's debut on the "world stage".
"Well it was his (Marcos) first appearance as president on the world stage, because the Asia Pacific region covers more than half of the world's economies," she said in a video posted Sunday, Nov. 20 on the Office of the Press Secretary's (OPs) Facebook page.
"And he certainly made a very good impression on the leaders of the very important economies, and not only the very important economies, also on the great economic thinkers of the world," astute politician Arroyo said of the 65-year-old Marcos.
Arroyo, an economist and former Philippine president, as well as a former House Speaker, was part of the Philippine delegation to the just-concluded APEC. The event ran from Nov. 14 to 19.
The current House Speaker, Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez, had earlier described Marcos's APEC showing as a "resounding success".
