BACOLOD CITY -- A drug detainee surrendered to the authorities in Zamboanga del Norte on Saturday, Nov. 19, three days after he escaped from the custodial facility of Bacong Municipal Police Station in Negros Oriental on Wednesday.
Lt. Col. Marcial Yanguas, officer-in-charge of Negros Oriental police, presented 34-year-old John Mike Olitres alias 'Tata Vendetta' to the members of the media, after he arrived in the province from Barangay Potol, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte later that night.

Major Fortunato Villafuerte, Bacong police chief, said that Olitres was tracked down after he reached out to his family. Police earlier sought the help of the family to encourage him to surrender.
Olitres escaped from the custodial facility around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 16, as the facility was not properly locked.
Villafuerte, in a press briefing, said the duty jailer failed to notice Olitres sneaking out of the jail as he was in front of the police station.
Olitres was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Oct. 8. He will be transferred to the provincial jail.
Villafuerte said that those responsible for the said incident will be subjected to a pre-charge investigation.
He also said that they will intensify their security measures, and the deployment of personnel at the police station.
