More tourists visit Boracay Island in October – Malay Tourism Office


ILOILO CITY -- Tourist arrivals at world-famous Boracay Island hit a more than 100 percent increase in October this year.

According to the Malay Tourism Office, a total of 135,252 tourists visited the famous beach in Aklan province in October.

The number is 12,879 or 110.5 percent more than the total arrivals last September which stood at 122,371.

Majority of those October arrivals were local tourists which totaled 116,503, about 9,727 more than last September’s 106,776.

On the other hand, foreign tourists accounted for 16,087 in the same month.

The increase in foreign arrivals was just as notable as it was compared to last September’s 12,513 arrivals.

However there was a decrease in the arrivals of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) with only 2,662 OFWs visiting for October 2022. This was a drop of 422 arrivals. Last September, there were 3,084 OFWs.
