The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has exceeded again its target revenue, this time, for the month of October.
Citing a preliminary report, BOC acting Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz said the bureau collected a total of P75.5 billion in October which is 18.6 percent higher from this month's target collection of P63.7 billion.
Ruiz attributed the good collection efforts of the BOC to measures against revenue leakages, corruption, and smuggling while easing process bottlenecks.
In October last year, BOC records revealed that it collected P56 billion.
From January to October, the BOC collected P714.3 billion cumulatively and exceeded the P602.8 billion target by P111.5 billion or 18.5 percent. Compared to last year's P525.4 billion collection, revenues grew by 37 percent or by P188.9 billion.
