2,214 individuals affected by 'Paeng' in Bulacan

A total of 2,214 individuals or 643 families were affected by severe tropical storm “Paeng” in Bulacan, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Citing the report of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, the PDRRM said the affected individuals from nine municipalities including the towns of Bulakan, Pulilan, Hagonoy, Paombong, Calumpit, Bocaue, and Guiguinto; and the Cities of Meycauayan and Malolos were housed in 48 evacuation centers.

Bulacan Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro led the distribution of a total of 960 relief goods donated by the provincial government and some donors to the affected families.

The PDRRMC also reported an initial estimate of P115,306,617.66 damage to agriculture and fisheries due to “Paeg” based on the data of the Provincial Agricultural Office.

Meanwhile, PDRRMO reported that Angat Dam water level continues to rise.

On Oct. 30, the water level reached 196.58 meters at 8 a.m.

On Tuesday, the water level of Angat Dam rose to 198.24 at 5:00 p.m., which is still below the normal water level of 212 meters.

The water level of Ipo Dam was 100.89 meters, a bit lower than its spilling level of 101 meters; while Bustos Dam was at 17.28 meters, above the spilling level of 17 meters.

Due to continuous scattered rains and high tide that flooded some areas in Bulacan, classes from pre-school to senior high in public and private schools in Hagonoy town have been suspended from Nov. 2 to 4.

In the City of Malolos, preschool to senior high classes, both in public and private schools, were suspended on Nov. 2. Classes in all levels in Paombong, both public and private schools, were also cancelled on the same day.
