National University remained undefeated in its campaign after shooting down De La Salle in straight sets, 25-23, 25-20, 25-19, in the Shakey’s Super League Pre-season Collegiate Conference on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Alyssa Solomon finished with 14 points off 10 attacks, three aces and one block including the last two points in the third set to secure the swift victory for NU.
The Lady Bulldogs, who bucked a slow start in the opening set to turn back the Lady Spikers in the next two, have not dropped a single set in the latter’s favor this year.
NU swept the tournament with eight wins including the championship that saw the rematch between its UAAP Season 84 rival La Salle.
Up 11 in the second frame 16-5, NU had to come to its senses as La Salle crawled back to close the gap at 23-20 before Leila Cruz committed a service error and Alleiah Malaluan was denied by Solomon at the net, effectively putting the former up by two sets to none.
Despite being down by two in the final frame, 17-15, the Lady Bulldogs quickly reponded courtesy of Pricess Robles’ down-the-kill attack and Camille Lamina’s ace to tie the set once more.
From then on, NU still proved to be too much to overcome for La Salle after its 8-2 run that ended the game.
For La Salle’s side, Angel Canino had 14 points as the lone bright spot for the girls in green.
