BI nabs 4 'wanted' foreigners in Pasay, Oriental Mindoro

Agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) have arrested four foreigners allegedly being sought in their respective countries for serious crimes.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the two South Koreans and the two Chinese were apprehended separately in Pasay City and Oriental Mindoro by the BI fugitive search unit (FSU).

Arrested on Oct. 25 inside a condominium unit along Balagtas St., Pasay City was Korean Ko Chang Hwan, 52, who is wanted by Korean authorities for allegedly importing illegal drugs.

His compatriot Min Seokchul, 44, who was also inside the condo unit during the operation was placed under custody for overstaying since 2018.

Early this month, FSU agents arrested in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro Chinese nationals Lu Changyong, 48, and Lu Changxin, 46, who are both wanted by Chinese authorities for large-scale fraud.

The Chinese government said the duo were subjects of arrest warrants issued by the public security bureau in Jilin, China for committing contract fraud in violation of Chinese criminal law.

The four are currently detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation.
