In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Naruto, Montblanc collaborates with the beloved anime and manga series and global phenomenon

Manga and anime aren’t new, but they’re young forever. It’s been 20 years since the series Naruto about the adventures of the world’s no. 1 unpredictable ninja Naruto Uzumaki, after whom the series was named, was introduced to a public hungry for stories, but it continues to be all the rage.
It is for this reason the Montblanc, a luxury brand devoted to the culture of writing, has come up with the Montblanc x Naruto collection of writing instruments and accessories, smart watches, and leather goods.
The collection is a love letter to the art of creative storytelling and the cultural influence of Naruto, which has captured the imagination of comic book, graphic novel, and animation aficionados the world over, and continues to be an inspiration for the new generation of manga and anime creators.
Naruto is a certified bestseller. To date, there have been over 250 million copies of the manga series sold in 46 countries. Its basic premise is the young, orphaned ninja’s quest for his resolve to become Hokage, the leader and strongest ninja of his village.

The Montblanc x Naruto collection is an ode to the transmission of knowledge. Among its highlights is its interpretation in design language of the deep bonds between Naruto and his mentor and godfather Jiraiya. A hermit and a legendary ninja, Jiraiya roamed the world in pursuit of knowledge he so deftly passed on to his godson, the very last of his students in the Japanese art of ninjutsu, the art of stealth, camouflage, and sabotage.
On top of these beloved characters set against the background, the Montblanc x Naruto collection includes design elements in bold orange that are evocative of brush strokes, ink drops, and calligraphy-style symbols associated with the art of writing.
“Naruto is a cultural phenomenon that appeals across generations because it addresses life lessons in a dynamic, compelling, and accessible way,” says Nicolas Baretzki, Montblanc CEO. “One of those lessons is the value that comes from the transmission of knowledge, a theme that is closely connected to Montblanc’s own heritage in handwriting and its ongoing mission to inspire people to leave their mark on the world in a meaningful and purposeful way.”

A special anime short has been created by the Naruto team to help launch the collaboration. It highlights the importance of the passing on of knowledge, a process in which writing plays a central role. The film features Jiraiya’s reflections of Naruto’s journey to ninjahood and the pieces of advice he has imparted to the young ninja, which Naturo considers the most instrumental in his transformation, sharing with the viewer what it really means to be a ninja and, in so doing, with his innermost thoughts written down in ink from his fountain pen, revealing what truly counts in life, ninja or not.
Included in the collaboration collection is a new edition of the Montblanc Meisterstück, a writing icon that in many ways has also been a muse for self-expression and creativity for generations. The special edition, available as a rollerball, a ballpoint, or a fountain pen, boasts of a gold nib with ruthenium-coat embellishment and the “Village hidden in the leaves” symbol in yellow gold. A special orange ink in a glass bottle and a leather notebook decorated with Naruto elements complete the writing assortment.
The Montblanc x Naruto collection also comes with an assortment of leather goods. There’s a sling bag as well as a chest bag and mini reporter to be worn crossbody. A tote and pouch with wrist strap are also available. Each piece features a Naruto or Jiraiya depiction against the black leather, with the reverse in orange leather decorated with the writing symbols. As for small leather goods, the collection includes a three-credit card pocket holder, a compact wallet, pen pouch, M Buckle leather belt, key fob, and smart accessories like an iPhone 13 cover and an air pods case.
Montblanc is available at Rustan’s Makati, Rustan’s Shangri-La, Rusta’s Cebu, Greenbelt 5, City of Dreams, and Resorts World.
