The HONOR Magic 4 Pro, three months later

As the technology editor of Manila Bulletin, I get the latest devices and accessories even before they are available in the market. For example, the phone I am using right now was dropped on my desk weeks before its official launch. Three months later, I still use the HONOR Magic 4 Pro, and I love it!

I conducted an informal survey among my friends about why they need to replace their phones. Almost all of them said because of the better camera offered by the latest device. Battery life is also on top, and a larger screen resolution comes next. While there is at least one release of an updated phone from known manufacturers every year, it is not necessary that we also need to replace our phone annually. I always say that if a phone serves its purpose, there is no reason to buy a new one. But with the introduction of the HONOR Magic 4 Pro, I told my friends to check it out, and if they're thinking of buying a new phone this year, they need to consider purchasing this device.

Aside from the advanced camera features and long battery life. What made this device stand out from the other phones that I am using is its ability to connect to my other devices. As someone working in a hybrid environment, I need to connect all my devices every time, and my life will be easier if my devices can connect with each other when needed. Sometimes, I need files that are only found on my phone. With the HONOR Magic 4 Pro, I only need a tap on my supported laptop or tablet to send, copy and exchange files across all these devices — a feature that I find most helpful in my line of work. Professionals and students alike will also find this convenient as they always need to send and receive files from their phones. The HONOR Magic 4 Pro has made my job easier and less complicated with this feature.

At first, when I checked the camera setup of the HONOR Magic 4 Pro, I thought that it had five rear cameras. The two extra holes that resemble a camera near the flash are the flicker sensor that reduces flickers while shooting and the laser focusing system that detects the subject immediately, allowing users to instantly focus on anything giving them accurate bokeh effects. I have impressed friends and family members with how fast I take photos and impress them some more when they see the results.

With just one tap, I can connect my HONOR Magic 4 Pro to my laptop, tablet, and other supported device.

The HONOR Magic 4 Pro has a three-rear camera setup. The 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary camera, the 64-megapixel periscope 3.5 zoom camera, and the 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 122-degree field of view. Additional sensors complement these cameras to give users the perfect photo anytime. The dTOF sensor is activated for depth mapping and laser autofocus in low light. The flicker sensor adjusts the shutter speed to eliminate screen flicker for recording videos.

The front camera, what HONOR calls the selfie shooter, has a 12-megapixel sensor and ultrawide support. It also features a 3D depth camera sensor for depth information and advanced facial unlock. The front camera also features portrait mode and 4K video shooting.

Overall, my camera experience using the HONOR Magic 4 Pro was exceptional. So, if the reason why you need to upgrade your phone is the camera, try the HONOR Magic 4 Pro. If you love taking photos and videos, this phone is for you.

Another vital feature of the HONOR Magic 4 Pro is battery management. The HONOR Magic 4 Pro's battery can last the whole day without worrying about running out of power. When using this device, I no longer bring a power bank when I leave the office; the same happened when I used other Honor phones -- no more battery anxiety for me.

With the quad-curved screen, the HONOR Magic 4 Pro design is a head turner, and the combination of a super streamlined body and smooth curves makes it fits beautifully in the hand of the user. Also, Honor made the frame of Magic 4 Pro a lot slimmer, giving it a larger display area.

The HONOR Magic 4 Pro is also water and dust resistant with an IP68 rating. This means you can take photos and videos in the middle of a heavy downpour without any worries.

Other notable features of the HONOR Magic 4 Pro include Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform, WiFi6, OS Turbo X, GPU Turbo X, and LINK Turbo X which help provide longer battery life and stable signals.

I am also the IT Head of the Manila Bulletin, and security is always a priority for my devices. HONOR Magic 4 Pro has security features that made me decide to use it, including an AI privacy call that assures no sound leakage will happen when taking a call. Security chipset that offers hardware-level protection and secures essential passwords. And, Dual TEE security OS. TEE or Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) is an environment for executing code in which those codes can have high levels of trust in that surrounding environment because they can ignore threats from the rest of the device.

With all these features plus the stunning looks of the HONOR Magic 4 Pro, I believe it's now time to upgrade your device.
